GAHW born 1776, West Middlesex Militia joined 1794, Ensign 1795; Lieut.1796. Capt. Northumberland Provisional Cavalry 1799; Capt. Loyal Tarbert Fencible Infantry 1800; Capt. 16 Battn of Reserve 1803; became Ensign 32nd. Foot; Lieut 38th Foot 1805; joined 2nd Battn at Launceston, transferred to 1st Battn, resigned 1812. Embarked for Portugal 1808 with Lord Beresford's Army, fought under Duke of Wellington against Napoleon. Aide de Camp to Wellington 1812. Married Laureana do Crato of Catello de Vide....3 sons William, Jorge, & General Luiz
