Other options to check whether this Ellen married Thomas Jones (other than waiting and relying on family recollections ....):
1) The official complete BMD index is available on the FINDMYPAST site. (Pay per view site; not expensive for such a focussed search.)
2) I understand the complete index is also on ancestry.com. You have to register, but this particular index is free. I don't use this site myself, so would stand corrected if the situation has changed.
3) You can order the marriage certificate for Ellen from GRO with the instruction to send it only if the spouse is JONES. If it's not Jones, they won't send the certificate and charge you a small admin charge, not the full cost. I'd be reluctant to state 'only if Thomas Jones' as there were too many people who were married in the name they were baptised with, but were generally, and on censuses, known by another name! [In such a hypothetical case if Thomas Jones married under the name of, say, William Jones, you'd not receive the certificate. He might actually be the right man, but you'd miss the next step of your mystery: Is William Jones the same man as Thomas Jones? Oh. what fun it all is! ;-) ).
