This is to let all of you know that maternal lineage on mother's side of my family goes back to Nancy Douglass Walker, daughter of Bartley Vance Walker and Margaret Ann (Peggy Ann) Douglass, and wife of Elbert Sevier Wilson. I do have the color portrait of Elbert Sevier Wilson and Nancy Douglass Walker in my possession. I have done considerable research on Walker, Douglass, and Wilson families in area of Jefferson County, TN; Knox County, TN; and Sevier County, TN. I was able to prove that William Walker and his wife, Prudence Walker are without doubt the parents of Bartley Vance Walker. It is due to the land records and census records in Knox County, Tennessee. A genealogical friend of mine in the past have located the family bible of William Walker and his wife Prudence Walker. I have been given the photocopy of it for my file. It was such a real treasure to find something on my Bartley Vance Walker and his own siblings.
A distant cousin of mine from Iowa in the past have has corresponded with me regarding Prudence Walker, wife of William Walker in Knox County, Tennessee. She have been helpful in sharing data with me on Prudence Walker and her siblings. I has been told that Prudence Walker was the daughter of Charles and Eleanor Walker in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. And that Prudence Walker was not related to William Walker at all!
Regarding the early ancestry of William Walker who married Prudence Walker, I am still NOT convinced with the research of W. Ray Walker to this day. For a time being, I am quite contented with William Walker and his wife Prudence Walker who came from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. I truly believed that William Walker and his wife Prudence Walker was married and started the family there before the migration to East Tennessee via Shenandoah Valley in Virginia in early 1790's. Upon its arrival there, this family settled in Hawkins County, North Carolina (now Knox County, Tennessee). Some of the children for William Walker and his wife Prudence Walker were born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. And the rest of the children were born in Knox County, TN.
My genealogical research is based on compilations of data from census records, land records, marriage records, and tax lists in Knox County, TN and surrounding areas. By any means, it is not completed.
