Charles Everette Wallace, 58, of Niota, died Friday, April 4, 2008, in Athens. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a former employee of Newman Mobile Homes. He was a member of Pond Hill Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his father, David Woodrow Wallace. Survivors include his wife, Karen Claudine Wallace of Niota; one daughter, Melissa Wallace of Etowah; his mother, Lillian Richesin Wallace of Athens; one granddaughter, Destinee Crowder; one sister and brother-in-law, Glynda and Dee Liles of Athens; four brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Maxine Wallace, Richard and Shirley Wallace, Billy and Etta Ruth Wallace and Jerry and Charlotte Wallace, all of Niota; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard White officiating. Burial was 11 a.m. Monday in Pond Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Joey Crowder, Doug Wallace, Donnie Wallace, Jimmy Torbett, Caid Wallace and Randy Wallace. The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
