First the 'good' news. I know that Mary Elizabeth Wallace married Charles Gladwin at Cawnpore in West Bengal, India, on 23 August 1861, and that the couple had at least three children;-
Frances Amelia Edith Gladwin born 10 October 1864
Alice Gladwin born 9 October 1867
Jessie Gladwin born 26 July 1870
Try as I might, I have been unable to find the parents of Mary Elizabeth Wallace, nor where she came from, although it might be possible that either her mother or her father was from India.
This possibility comes from two sources, one being that my late mother had said that her Uncle (his name was John Morgans, and he had married the above Frances Amelia Edith Gladwin) had "walked out with an Eurasian", whilst the second comes from a recently acquired photo of Frances, which clearly suggests a close Indian or "Eurasian" ancestry.
Any assistance which anyone could provide as to sources to check (other tham OIRO) would be much appreciated, as would be the wonderful news that someone has that particular Wallace family in their own ancestry.
