Martha Jane Wallace and Capt James Speers

Martha Jane Wallace was the daughter of Arthur Wallace and Anna Garrett. Martha was born between 1810 and 1835 in Washington, Westmoreland or Fayette county area around Belle Vernon, PA. Martha m Capt. James Speers who piloted a steamboat on the Pittsburgh PA rivers. The couple settled in Parnassus, PA. James may have tried to start a brick business in Pittsburgh.
They had 8 children:
1) Janette who m Wilson Miller Davidson and had 3 children.
Wilson Davidson was the Twp Commissioner.
2) William Speers
3) Arthur Speers
4) John Oliver Speers/Spear who m Mary Ellen Jackson and had
6 children. John changed the last name to Spears due to
conflicting neighbors with the same last Postal names.
5) George
6) Anna F. Speers 1861 - 1928 buried in Speer Illinois at
Lawn Ridge.
7) Hester ??
8) Emma Jane who m in 1892 William Elliott and had 8
children.
