Hi, Larry,

This is in reply to your post from January:

I have to ask why do you think the Scanlons are related to George Washington? I have Scanlons in my family and they are from Mckeesport/Pittsburgh PA which as a strong history with George Washington when he worked for the Ohio Company in the mid 1750's. My connection is through the Powell Chinn family of Middleburg VA. The Powells and Chinns were direct neighbors. The Chinns are recorded to be cusins of George Washington through the Ball Family. The Chinns are also married into the Myers family. The Myers family is also related to the Spotswood's who are also married into the Washingtons. That is at least what a Kentucky court order says when General Alexander Spotswood died without a Will. That is, the Myers family are Heirs to the Spotswood estate in Kentucky.

I believe there are Ball and Scanlon family connections. I don't know exactly how they are related but there is a John Scanlon who married a Kezia Ball and I don't know whether they have a George Washington connection or not.

Do you know of these connections to Washington?

Thanks,

Carol
