First, Pittsburgh was part of Virginia when George Washington was alive. What I am saying is, I have Scanlons in my family and I believe George Wasgington is related to my family in Pittsburgh.

It all started on a well documented event when a 45 year old Christopher Gist, a 22 year old Grorge Washington and a 15 year old Jacob Myers, all surveyors for the Ohio Company, visited Queen Alliquippa in Pittsburgh/Mckeesport Christmas Eve 1753.

The Myers of Ft Myers Florida are connected to Christopher Gist when a Myers family member married Mariam Edding of Baltimore who is related to the Gratz Family of Philadelphia. The connection io Christopher Gist of Baltimore is when Christopher Gist's granddaughter Maria Cecil Gist married Benjamin Gratz who was the son of Michael Gratz.

Michael and his brother Benjamin Gratz were business partners with Jacob Myers of Pittsburgh. Jacob Myers started the very first scheduled riverboat service in Pittsburgh October 14 1793 with Gratz brothers as partners. This is another well documented event.
