Searching for additional information on these families and ancestors. They are reportedly part of the "Schemmel Immigrants", a group of 50 or so people contracted to build Conrad SCHEMMEL's home and clear his land in exchange for passage to the USA. I have yet to find proof of this tale, although the families did settle on land around Schemmel's. The Wehners were Roman Catholic. Interested in obtaining copies of the "travelling priest's records".
