Hi Joan,
For what it is worth my last name is Huckins and the book on Huckins genealogy was written by Bill Huckins and his wife Abby, both now deceased. Abby Huckins also wrote about the Groesbecks (thought the name sounded familiar but was trying to connect it to my Whipple line). Anyway they have the parents of your Garret Groesbeck as also Garret Groesbeck and wife Deborah McComb(Macomber).

Garret E. Groesbeck born 1.10.1807 d 2.11.1894 LeRoy IL, m Elsie Walley b 10.16.1806 d 9.26.18.1879, m 10.11.1826, children Gilbert Walley, Isaella, David Walley, Elizabeth M, Elias Hilhouse, John Walley, and Stephen Walley. Gilbert died in California but is buried in Avaca Cem, Fond du Lac, Wisc, married twice; Isabella died young, David m and had 3 children, died in Chicago, IL; Elizabeth married and died in Iowa; Elias married and had 5 children, bur different cem in Fond du Lac; John married and had two children, died in Niles, Iowa; and Stephen married and died in Missouri.

Garret J.'s parents they have as Hannes Groesbeck and Elizabeth Van Brackel (Bracklin). Looks like there were numerous Garret's in these lines.
