Judy, did you ever find anything further on your Jeremiah? I did find in my database a Jeremiah b abt 1813 or earlier who was in NY and went to Ohio in 1837. He was called also Jerry and had a brother named Joseph and they lived later in China, Lee County, Illinois. (History of China, IL, Frank Everett Stevens, 1914, page 307) This Jeremiah had a daughter Emily and a daughter Isabelle and a son Jeremiah Jr. and probably other children. I don't think the children came to IL with him or not at the time he went as he lived first with his brother. I have slightly different names of the husbands of Emily and Isabelle from that history but they are similar. Emily m a man by the name of Thompkins and she went to Iowa and then Pike's Peak Colorado. I believe they ran a boarding house there. Her sister Isabelle also went to Pike's Peak - she married Decatur Farrows. I don't know anything about Jeremiah Jr but he doesn't appear to be in either IL or Ohio with the father.
