James N. Wilkinson, John W. and Helen Wilkinson - New York, moved to PA/MO/KS

I am looking for information on my GGGfather, whom I believe to be James Nelson Wilkinson. I have a marriage record for him and my GGGmother, Mary Nancy Ruth Dodson. She was divorced or illegally married him (have no record of the divorce, but I know for a fact that she left her first husband, last name Reynolds). According to their marriage record and the 1910 census, he was born abt 1876 in New York.

The following is the info from their marriage record:

Marriage Location:        Jackson, Independence, Missouri
Marriage County:        Jackson
Spouse Name:        James N Wilkinson
Spouse Age:        29
Spouse Birth Date:        abt 1876

His signature reads James Nelson Wilkinson, so I am certain that Nelson is his middle name. It is vital to matching him to the following census records.

I suspect, based on a census record from 1900 that I believe to be him, that his mother's name is Helen Wilkinson.

Following this train of thought, then his father's name would be John W. Wilkinson, since I have a Nelson and Helen Wilkinson in the same census record for 1880:

John W. Wilkinson        39
Helen Wilkinson        39
Della Wilkinson        7
Nelson Wilkinson        4
Josie Hanna        24

All of the dates and places match on these.

James (also known as Jim) either died or left the picture between 1910 and 1920. His daughter, Thelma, was living with a half-sister in 1920, following her mother's death. Her mother was remarried yet again sometime between 1910-1920 (and this man left her before she died, she must hae been quite a peach with the men).

I am looking for more info on James Nelson Wilkinson, his parents, and what might have become of him.
