I'd like to connect John to Bucks County ! John Wilkinson 1788-1859 John was born in Bucks County, PA about 1788. per his tombstone. [One researcher suggests that often children were “excommunicated” from Quaker families, and records of their connections erased.] I think this is my problem. For what ever reason, at about age 31, John left Buck’s County and settled in Augusta, Georgia in about 1819. per his tombstone. On Feb. 28, 1828 he married Hepsy (Hephzibah) Hill who was born in South Carolina. In 1841 he was a Tanner (of hides into leather) by trade and was a Courier, which is an associated trade with a Tanner. His business was located near Fenwick and Centre Sts. In 1850 Census John and Hepsy had Thomas J. born 1829, John C. born in 1835, Frances Virginia born in 1833, Sarah Annah ‘Savannah’ (Hesihah) born in 1841, Mary Sugusta (or Augusta) born in 1846, and William M. born in 1848. He was a Free Mason, evidenced by the Masonic symbol on his grave stone. Also on his stone is engraved… “Truth and Honesty, was his policy.” He died in 1859. Notify Administrator about this message?
