We have now gone back a generation or two. James Wilkinson was the son of William Wilkinson, a joiner, born in Manchester in 1807. Married to Mary A., and with children Charles (born 1839), Thomas (born 1842), Joseph, Sarah (born 1851), and Elizabeth (born 1853). On later census reports William is shown as a widower, with two grandchildren: William (born 1877) and Lydia (born 1880). These children appear to be the children of Sarah, and she is later shown as being a widow. But the records for William and Lydia -- at least those that we've seen so far -- show William Wilkinson as father, and Sarah as mother.

All of this happened in Manchester, England.

Does anyone have any connection with these members of the Wilkinson clan?

Thanks for your help.
