Every one needs to find a male Williams from there line and have him DNA tested. It's the new way to hunt and there has been a huge discount on the DNA tests from going threw the Williams DNA project. I had hunted my Williams family for 10 years and learned more in the last 6 months from that DNA test than in all them 10 years. One of the people I had matched said he had hunted his family for 40 years and just like me had learned more in the last 6 months than in all them 40 years. DNA did it all. Huge family trees were connected by DNA, then we noticed there trails all went back to Grayson co., VA. in the 1700's. The most important thing you can ever do in your research is have a male Williams DNA tested in your family. All you will need is a credit card to order. All the test is, is a cotton swab on the inside of the person cheek of his mouth, done himself at home, it's simple. Them stacks of records you have collected over the years will not have near the knowledge that is in that little cotton swab. When you get your DNA results back you will get a certificate with your kit number and password. Then you can go to Family Tree DNA online and log in and all your matches will be there with there email addresses. You can click on the the box to the right of any of the people you match, and it will break it down and show you the percentages of shareing the same Williams grandfather of every generation back for 20 generations. When you break the 50% mark in how ever many generations back you will know about where you and that person connect. You will always be able to log in and see your matches, when you get a new one, Family Tree DNA will email you and tell you, it's awsome. Don't put it off. Do it while there is a discount. We have managed to run down living descendants of people from the 1700's and chiped in together on there DNA tests. We have a ball with DNA.. You can't hunt a name like williams with out DNA. It's awsome. hundreds of Williams's have done it. Most likely some of them will match you, and some of them will be families that you have never ever suspected. Do a google for Williams DNA Project and go for it. Dan Williams
