I posted this Wolf data on the Rainey forum in August 2007, in answer to a Jeff Radcliffe's 1999 messagem as follows: (I am interested in the Raineys and what happened to Betsey and Issac (Isaac). Flo This entry is so old that I am going to repeat it here, as follows, since I plan to respond to it: Posted by: Jeff Radcliffe Date: February 15, 1999 at 14:57:31 In Reply to: Gideon RAINEY - KY by Tom of 2192 According to the July 9, 1843 marriage record (Book A, Page 235)of Gideon Rainey to Malinda Cornelison in Madison Co.,KY, consent for the marriage was given by his father William and her father Eli. I have an earlier marriage record (Book A, pg. 9)for William Rainey in Madison Co., KY on December 22, 1803 where he married Sally Strange. Anyuone out there have any info on this William Rainey? My response is that this William Rainey was in Rowan Co NC 1790 census, as were the Wolf and Strange families. It appears they moved to Hopkins or Madison Co KY before 1803 where Wm married Sally Strange Dec 1803 Then in Hopkins County we have this entry in court records showing a Wm Rainey died before Dec 1817, leaving at least 2 minors, Betsey and Isaac Rainey. Note: Both Michael Wolf and George Wolf as well as several Strange families were also on the 1790 Rowan CO NC census. Michael Wolf was an attorney active in the area. Found on line Hopkins County Ky Circuit Court Office minutes, December term, 1817, "ordered the clerk to bind to Michael Wolf, Betsey Rainey, orphan of William Rainey, deceased, to learn spinning and knitting as the Law directs". Betsey's brother Issac was ordered, "bound to George Wolf to learn the blacksmith's business. Notify Administrator about this message?
