Stuart, Thank you for your message. Clearly you posted the conflict that I keep running into. I don't lay claim to anything earlier than Capt John. The Lord Baltimore, 1661, and the "being a lad" make some sence. I thought about Lord Baltimore (3) which is why I am trying to find out more about him. The Roman Catholic part of your comment is another point of conflict for me. The hints that I have would run counter to that possibility. It is clear to me that Capt John was a religious man, which may be from that tradition, but he was active in the Anglican church in Annapolis. He married a Quaker, with deep Quaker roots. His wife did join Saint Anne's, Annapolis, but when Capt John died, his wife and children returned to her Quaker roots. Not, it may be that Capt John left "home" to get away from the Roman Catholic tradition, but did he? I am enjoying the three Worthington Books and look forward to the next project. I am not sure that I have run into Addison but will have to see if I can make some contact. David may have referenced him in our correspondance. Thank you, Russ Notify Administrator about this message?
