I have found a bit of indirect information on "New England" Nicholas here:

http://www.1704.deerfield.history.museum/scenes/scene.do?title=Peskeompskut

We know from documents that Nicholas was present at the attack on Peskeompskut, also known as Turner's Falls Fight (1676--see earlier posts on King Philip's War).

The above mentioned site, which covers the attack on Peskeompskut, is well presented, researched, and documented.
