Many thanks for the burial place of Mary W: brother Philip, I etc have yet to go through all the records of Manchester Cathedral for 17th century baptisms/ marriages/burials ... tho' we did know about Francis's unnamed firstborn being buried in 1646-7.

Do you have any records or clues, perchance, on the forebears of Francis's grandfather - Roger Worthington, who m(1)1604 Margaret Platt (by whom he had 3 children) and who m(2) 1611-2 Katherine Heywood of Manchester? Margaret (Platt) d 1611, Katherine (H) d 1651 ... and Roger himself in 1649. On American websites, there are at least two different sets of antecedents ... and one (at least) has to be wrong!! Tracing this line back to one of the 'old' Worthington lines (of Worthington, Blainscough, Crawshaw or Shevington) is one of the aims of the Worthington 17th century project - see www.worthingtonhistory.com ... but a link with the Blainscough Ws is very remote, as they were diehard Roman Catholics - whereas the Worthingtons of Manchester were Anglican bordering on Presbyterian!

With kind regards.

Stuart W
