Edward Jeffers Worthington was the youngest child of Captain Edward Worthington and his wife Elizabeth Stephens. He was born 23 July 1790, probably at Worthington Station (fort his father built), Lincoln Co., Ky. Edward J. Worthington married Elizabeth Wayland 5 Oct. 1809 in Lincoln Co., Ky. They had the following children:

Harriett, 1 Jan. 1811
Joseph Wayland Worthington, 3 July 1812, was a Dr.
Mahala Jane, 1814
Charles, 1817
Lewis Marion, 1818
Wm. Patrick, 1819
Jeremiah Hubbard, 13 Dec. 1822, was a Dr.
Fielding, died young
Robert Graham, 17 Jan. 1825
Eveline H., 16 Dec. 1828
and possibly an Edward (died 7 Nov. 1843) and a Sidney

Edward Jeffers Worthington died of lead poisoning in Galena, Illinois, on 16 Aug. 1828.

Wife Elizabeth Wayland Worthington was born 8 April 1790 possibly in Virginia, and died 17 Sept. 1874 in Exline, Appanoose Co., Iowa. Her second husband was Rev. Samuel Nichols, 26 May 1838, Clark Co., Mo. Her parents were Joshua Wayland and Rachel Utz.
