I came across this case accidently when checking out something else in the local newspaper in Floyd Co., Georgia in 1909.
Robert Jenkins Worthington known as "Dink" and his nephew Jack/John Worthington age 22 were charged with the rape of Mary Elrod of Bartow Co., Georgia.
Mary, age 15 or 17, stated she went riding with the two men and that at some point they stopped and both men raped her two times each. The Worthingtons and the Elrods were not strangers to each other.
The case goes to trial and "Dink" is freed and his nephew is convicted and given a 20 year sentence.
I can identify "Dink" because he married into my Young line but I'm having trouble with the nephew. Does anyone on this forum have info on these folks?
