On June 6, 2008, I attended a "Winging Ceremony" at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The opening speech by the Rear Admiral reminded us how important aviation was to the landing at Normandy and still is today.

Last year, the Rear Admiral said the pilots who were about to receive their wings came from all walks of life as we will observe by looking at their parents, but they all had one thing in common...THEY LOVE TO FLY!

I admire the spirit of these "men in their flying machines."

Marilyn
