Good morning, Mr. Ryan.

The 255th IR was a part of the 63rd Infantry Division:

After training, departed NY P/E, 5 Jan 45;
landed Marseille, France-ETO, 14 Jan 45;
255th IR attacked the Bois de Blies Bruken, 15 Feb 45;
division captured Buebingen and Blisransbach, 24 Feb 45;
division attacked near Saaurbruecken, 15 Mar 45.

There is no reference to the capture of Bliesbruck that I can readily access...sorry.

Elements of the division had these assignments around the time frame you mention:

attached to 100th ID 31 Dec 44 / 7 Jan 45;
attached to 44th ID 19 Jan 45 / 20 Mar 45.

Campaigns ((2);
Rhineland, 15 Sept 44 / 4 April 45;
Central Europe, 22 Mar-11 May 45.

(The 255th IR was recognized for its' campaign at Ardennes- Alsace Campaign for its' attached duty to the 100th ID).

KIA, 861, WIA, 3,326, DFW, 113.

Louie F. Turner.
