My grandfather was also on the Clyde Maru and a POW at Fukuoka Branch #17. He is also deceased, and I am trying to learn more. He never talked of his time in the war, but I feel like I owe it to him to know and be able to tell his great grandsons what a hero he was.
I don't have any information, just wanted to feel a connection with someone else searching. It is heartbreaking to read and see the pictures.
I did come across (online) a book by C.M. Graham called 'Under The Samuri Sword' about the camp. Haven't been able to purchase yet though.
