Brad, here is a good place to start. Be sure to pay particular attention to the brochure, "Finding Information on Personal Participation in World War II".

One suggestion: You said he was "born 1928" but the enlistment record shows his birth date 1922. Obviously, if he was born in 1928 he would of been 12 or 13 at the time of Pearl Harbor, so that DOB is probably incorrect. As you research, be sure to be accurate with dates, names, numbers, etc. One seemingly insignificant typo can put you completely off track.
