Ernestine Ruel
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.;Ernestine L. Ruel, 96, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at her home, after a period of failing health.
Ernestine was born in Rochester, N.H., on Jan. 6, 1912, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Crotty) Ruel, and had been living in Port St. Lucie since the early 1970s, moving from West Palm Beach, Fla.
She served as captain in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. She was a graduate of the Exeter School of Nursing and a graduate of Rochester High School. She worked at one time at the Cedar Crest TB Center in Newington, Conn. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Ruel, and two sisters, Josephine Stewart and Madeline Ruel.
Surviving members of the family include one brother, Norman Ruel of Rochester, N.H., two sisters, Elizabeth Osgood of Dover, N.H., and Barbara Lynch of Port St. Lucie, Fla., as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Cemetery on Brock Street in Rochester. Local arrangements are under the direction of the H. J.
