hi and thanks for the advice and insight. i really appreciate it. I have traced my Bay family back to captain Thomas Bay born in frederick county virginia in 1741, so have alot of information. My grandfather died when i was 3 so he wasn't able to tell me alot about any of his brothers.

your right i was going off of the NARA record that said enlistment fo the hawaiian department. when i searched hawaiian department i found that there were army infantry training camps there, so i automatically assumed he trained at one of them, but them again things were different back then. your right things could have changed with where he was stationed and going.

I am aware of the Mushingum mistake. I too was born in Muskingum county.
bernard was born in Nashport Ohio muskingum county and was the middle born child.

Him being in Hawaii durring Pearl Harbor attack was pure speculation. I figured that IF he was sent to Hawaii he probably would have still been there in december AND i know that today it can take up to a few months to go basic training.

all of his brothers and sister i know are dead, so there would be no talking to them.
all i am going off of is what my father had siad to me.
My father told me that he was in the Army and that he went on special missions thats all, but then again that could be speculation.

I do know he went to Idaho, post falls and probably died there in the 50s or 60s.
yeah my family is pretty big and they are not as 'close' as some families. No family reunions or anything like that....i visit a couple aunts every so often.

I think i will contact the muskingum county historical society. I am going to the Army soon my self so i figured there is no sense in paying for the research sites that are out there.

again thanks for the advice and insight.
regaurds,
~Brad Bay
