I show a John Jaekel as a son of Philip Jaekel listed as age 4 on the ship, Hilah. It arrived in New Orleans on Nov. 18, 1837. This family then went to St. Clair Co. and Philip established a brewery in Alton, Madison Co. IL in 1840.
I have no other info on John who is listed as Jean Jaekel on the ship's list.
