Hi Lisa, thanks for reading my 5 page article on the Eardley.org site which covers the Yardleys in detail up to 1700, but with some deliberately withheld info. It came from about 60 different sources in local records. The poor data you have found (also posted in 1999) is from Thomas yardleys book of 1881. He does have a lot of correct names etc but badly messed up. But even the Marbury is an ancient chapel next to ruined Combermere abbey, 8 miles west of YEARDLEY Hall. Tickens refers to the Thickness family of Betley and Barthomley parishes. Thomas Yardley(1675) and brother Richard (set up a mill at Solebury,)came to acqiure dead relatives estate in 1704. They were two youngest sons of Thomas (b.c.1636). Thomas was 3rd of five born at Rushton Spencer at Ravensclough. Their grandparents were John (1579 - 1645)and Alice nee Sutton (related to Robert E. Lee and President Madison). His parents were William (c.1551 -1624)and Margaret Lawton, and brother to a George Yeardley. This William (died 1595) married from the Little Moreton hall family (see net photos). His predecessors were John and John. All the records pertain to Audley parish etc.in north Staffordshire. bye pete Notify Administrator about this message?
