The Cherokee claims and other sources provide the following rap sheet for the Yorks and Philpots:

Yorks:
1) Josiah York of Sand Town took cattle & hogs (worth $144) belonging to Nelly (a Cherokee), near Sally Hughes' Ferry on the Etowah [or Hightower] River
2) 1826 Allen York, Alexander Ramsey, members of the Welch family, and Philpot clan stole cattle of Archy Rowe (Cher.) on the Tallapoosa River. The cattle were traced to Buzzard's Roost
3) Thomas York burned down log house ($30) of Bear Paw of Etowah, and took his corn, chickens, and dirk knife ($3.50)
4) 1830 Tom York and [William?] Shipley of Pumpkin Creek stole horses of Jim Godwin of Ioctatee Creek
5) 1830 Thomas York and his son had possession of hogs stolen from Nainne (Cher.) of Allatoona. The hogs were taken into the gold mining area
6) 1836 a man named York stole horses and cattle ($195) of Ailsey Scott (Cher.)

Philpots:
1) 1830 Jim Philpot, Reubin Philpot, Asa Upton and other unnamed persons attacked two Cherokees (John Ridge and John Fields) with clubs and knives near Vann's Old Place. The Indians were searching for missing horses
2) 1830 Asa Upton and Shipley, "2 noted thieves of the pony club" stole a horse named Tiskeenee ("a famous foal getter") from Owl Murphy
3) Feb. 1830 a gang of 30-40 intruders kidnapped four drunken Cherokees (Daniel Mills, Rattling Goard, Chuwoyee, and The Waggon). Chuwoyee was killed, Rattling Goard was put in the Carroll County jail, Mills escaped, and The Waggon also escaped after being stabbed in the chest with a butcher knife by "Old Man" Richard Philpot [news story in the Cherokee newspaper PHOENIX, Feb. 14, 1830]. In 1842 The Waggon submitted a claim for his medical costs ($50) and pain & suffering ($5000)
4) 1830 the Philposts stole 3 horses ($130) of Ailsy Ketchum of Vann's Valley
5) 1830 Nathan Upton of "Philpot's clan" stole cattle of John Fields, Jr.
6) 1832 Philpot's sons killed a cow of Ground Mole near Major Ridge's place, and drove other cattle to Carroll County
7) 1832 members of the Philpot family took horses of Swan of Oothcaloga Valley
8) 1832 the brothers Reuben and james Philpot took a horse ($150) of Archy Downing of Racoon Town. James was "a notorious rogue" belonging to "a slick company"
9) 1832 stolen cattle ($91) belonging to John Fields was tracked to the Philpot neighborhood in Carroll County
10) 1833 Philpots of Carroll County took horses ($120) of a woman named Larney of Coosawattee Town
11) 1835 Philpots took cattle ($55) of a woman named Setahna of Etowah Town
12) 1835 a Philpot stole a horse of William Pritchett
13) 1836 Jim Philpot took horses & cattle ($140) of Harry Scott. Jime was "a man of bad Character and generably believed to be a rogue"
14) 1837 Philpot & John Goodwin used forged accounts to seized estate ($3170), as well as horses, cattle, hogs and a Negro slave (worth $600) belonging to Chenaquah, deceased
15) 1837 Jim Philpot stole horse ($100) of Satahnee
16) 1837 Reubin Philpot of Clean Town stole rifle ($25) of Naucheah of Pettit's Creek
17) 1837 James Philpot and his brother "Ahquahuste" [meaning "Ribbon" in Cherokee] were sons of "Old Man Philpot" and stole the household goods of Nancy Ketcham of Vann's Valley
18) 1837 James Johnson, "son in law of Philpot", seized property of James Downing
19) Reuben "Phillips" [Philpot] had possession of stolen objects belonging to Betsy Cade near Vann's settlement
20) Reuben Philpot took horse & saddle ($115) of Edegungnahe of Running Waters, during a Cherokee ball play [i.e. lacrosse] game between Etowah Town vs Cedar Town
21) James Philpot ("a very bad character") took or killed 70 hogs ($225) of Bear Paw on the Tallapoosa River (taken on 3 separate occasions)
23) 1834 Kolkahlosky of Head of Coosa lost 3 horses ($260). He was informed that they were stolen by "the Philpots", but the Indian did not pursue because "I was afraid of them"
24) James Philpot, Reuben Philpot, Jack and Jim West, Toman Hogan, and Jesse Humphrey stole 12 horses ($500) of Jesse Sanders and Jack Writht on Sweetwater Creek
25) "In Carroll County on the 31st last, William Philpot was murdered by Eli8 Thurman. Thurman is about 5 feet 10 or 11 inches tall, fair complexion, 21 or 22 years old, light hair, and blue eyes.
