Hi Robert,

Have some questions for you. The Nancy York who married Albert Sawyer has a father as Mellen. Is this the Nancy W. York, age 22 of Baldwin, Me, b. Baldwin, ME d/o of Melvin York b. Baldwin? If so, Melvin, the father is the son of John York and Carrie and had siblings [maybe more than these] Charles, Henry C., and Corabel. See below.

Carroll County, NH Probate Court at West Ossipee, NH

John York of Wolfeboro writes will dated 11Aug 1883. Leaves one dollar to each child and rest of estate to Carrie, his wife. Children are: Charles, Melvin, Corabel, and Harry C.

John York, Wolfeborough, date of death Sept. 1, 1883. Age 66. Sex M, Color W, Married, Hotel Keeper, cause of death Bright's Disease. Written number on card B1817 is a calculated note of birthdate by unknown. Dudley C. Frost (Town Clerk}, reported from Wolfeborough, NH.

At this point, I think John has a brother Nathaniel. I have not been able to verify father of John.

If Mellen A. York is Nancy’s father’s name his wife would have been Lavinia Wiggins, correct? They would have been married in Oct 1875. Nancy’s siblings would be Frank S., Etta J., and Velma M. m. Albert Howard.

Please help me out with what you know. Have additional information...email me.

Dick York
