gibralter "balter" york

My grandfather, John Escoe York (d. 1967 in Rabun Co., Ga) had a brother named Gibralter, nicknamed "Balter". "Balter" travelled to Alaska probably prior to 1915, and never returned to Georgia, most likely living out his life in Alaska. I'm not positive, but his last correspondence with his family in Georgia was probably in the late '20's or early '30's. I also don't know if he ever married and had any children. The last anyone in the family seems to know about him is that he was to travel into some pretty remote territory, and never heard any more. Any Yorks or descendants of Yorks with a connection to Alaska and Rabun County, Georgia that may have any information about Gibralter? There was another brother (name unkown at this time) that lived in Idaho perhaps, and a sister, Mary York Coleman that lived in Rabun County.
