I am searching for any info on my g,g,grandmother, Ellen York, born in Yorktown ,Texas, Dec. 19, 1852. The family shortly after moved to Goliad, Texas, where she was raised. We have no info on her father other than he was born in England. Her mother, also unknown, was born in Florida. This came from census records. Ellen York married John Parton in Travis County in 1868. They moved around, Williamson County, Travis County, Somervell County, Then to Brown County. I found that Yorktown, Tex was founded in 1846, so the town was only 6 yrs old when Ellen York was born there ! The founder was, I believe. a Capt. John York. He was killed by Indians in 1848 or 1849 so he could not have been Ellen Yorks Father . I have heard stories about her father being a ship Capt. also and was washed overboard and lost at sea ?? She and her mother stayed at a boarding house for a while ? These are STORIES, I have no proof of any thing ! Any Help ? Thanks, LaVelle
