Hi, I am trying to trace my great-grandfather/family: Emil Friedreich Wilhelm Zimmerman, born 1869/1870 who's father was Ferdinand Albert Zimmerman, born 1832, baptised in St.Gertrud, Stettin. Emil Zimmerman came to the UK and married in Swansea, Wales in 1902. We have a 1911 census copy stating he was in swansea with his family in 1911. He was arrested in 1914 and we have a record stating that he was interned in Alexandra Palace Transit camp in 1916. His wife remarried in 1922 as he was declared 'deceased' however we have no confirmation if he died in internment or was deported to Germany. We know Ferdinand Albert Zimmermann had 2 surviving siblings from the IGI - Emilie Freidericke Wilhelmine Zimmermann and Marie Auguste Zimmermann. Their father was Johann David Zimmermann and mother was Beate Louise Meibauer. They were from Stettin also. We also have birth and marriage records for a Maria Hassen and Johann Zimmermann who are possibly Johann David Zimmermann's parents. So we can go back to the 1700's however we are stuck on the birth of Emil F W Zimmerman as we have no marriage of Ferdinand or birth of Emil. We have 1 photo of Emil with his parents and a girl taken in Stettin, no date. Emil looks about 18 yrs old. Possibly 1885-1890. He possibly had a sister. If anyone knows of any relatives descended or how I can obtain Stettin records up to 1900 of births or how I can obtain German Obituary records as he may have died back In Germany after WW1, please help! We are stuck! Also, how do I find records of those coming into Germany from the UK in WW1? Thank you for your time in reading this long post & good luck to all of you in your searches, Kind Regards, Rhiannon Notify Administrator about this message?
