Helen Margaret (Stewart) Zimmerman Obit
GRAND RAPIDS — Helen Margaret Zimmerman, age 88, formerly of Adrian, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Crestview Nursing Home in Grand Rapids.
She was born Sept. 16, 1919, in Blissfield, Mich., the only daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Hutchings) Stewart. On July 15, 1936, she married Timothy D. Zimmerman in Angola, Ind. Timothy, her husband of 53 years, preceded her in death on May 9, 1989.
While living in Adrian, she attended Berean Baptist Church. Helen lived a wonderful life as a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she enjoyed providing canned produce raised by the family.
Surviving Helen are her sons, Stewart (Peggy) Zimmerman of Adrian, Frank (Judy) Zimmerman and Donald Zimmerman, both of Grand Rapids; a daughter, Carol (“Joe” LaVon) Tryon of Livonia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Frederick Stewart; sons, Robert and Richard, and one grandson, Gregory Zimmerman.
Funeral services for Helen will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, with her grandson-in-law, Chris Salow, officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in York Township, Wauseon, Ohio. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Wagley Funeral Home.
